I got some nice feedback in the guestbook re. the Donkey Lady. I'm excited that other people are interested in her and looking for information.

I have been attending a workshop at the Museum of Art this week. Today we did batik and looked at Asian art. Batik was easier than I expected, but also, paradoxically, difficult. The process wasn't as hard as I thought it would be --- but it was more difficult to get the dye and the wax to go exactly where I wanted it. Yesterday we made books. Two more days to go. Much better than the usual, dull teacher inservice.

I finally mailed the package to Vivienne in France. Expensive! But she'll get some audiotapes of Texas ghost stories, a video, etc. so it's worth it. I'm a terrible penpal, but I'm trying to reform.

I've toyed with the idea of reviving one of my zines (PCC, Helldwellers, Mo Betta Goth Zine, Rude Girl, Lushbaby Weekly) ever since my dad gave me his old copy machine from work. I even have a bunch of articles I never printed in anything. I'm just so lazy! Back when I was younger and really into zines, I'd have burned up the copy machine by now. I probably will do one, but I guess it'll need a new name. And distro? Maybe just trades.

I've been trying to decide if my being a lesbian is a big deal or not. I go through phases where I find the label really important and I'm a bit of a crusader for equality. Then I go through periods where it seems so unimportant, made important only by the prejudice of others and the inequalities of our laws (especially in Texas). I guess I've been one for so long that I just take it for granted! Unlike most of my friends, I never went through a stage where I felt bad or guilty or reviled for being gay --- I never suffered for my sexual orientation (thanks to the agnosticism of my upbringing and the breadth of my reading). That's probably why it seems as irrelevant as my hair color (though not as changeable!) to me some times.

Babbling. Sorry no new dirt on the Donkey Lady!

Opal
